Tulips

Can't wait for the tulips to start blooming at the Inn, and the Wooden Shoe Festival in Woodburn which also begins soon--March 30th and runs through April 30th.  Such a beautiful sight to see with rows and rows of gorgeous tulips.  But the tulips at the Inn, which are many, are beautiful and breathtaking on their own as well.  Right now the daffodils are blooming on our grounds, and we love this as the first signs of spring!  Kristen & Linda

Off to a Good Start!

The start to another great year has already begun as reservations are starting to come in for spring and summer stays.  We have a newly remodeled space on our lower level where guests will be able to roll the doors open and enjoy outdoor views and air (its now our favorite spot in the Inn).  We have several new projects we hope to complete this year to make the Inn and its surroundings even more beautiful.  Here's to our guests, and to a fantastic 2012!  Pictured is a photo from last spring...with lots of green grass and sun!  Kristen & Linda

Wonderful Neighbors

I have awesome neighbors!  Beth & Cheryl have supplied us with fresh produce from their garden all summer and fall, which I used to make yummy fritattas and side dishes for our guests.  Annette & Randy deliver fresh farm eggs to our door weekly.  Matt's wine is a tasty treat and we love having his vineyard practically in our front yard!  And Terry keeps our shared gravel driveway in top condition as I see him on his tractor grading and filling potholes.  A huge THANK YOU to you all!  -Linda

The Painted Lady Restaurant

Dan and I recently dined at The Painted Lady for our 16th wedding anniversary.  We went all out and had our courses paired with the wine's they chose. It was perfect!  The Painted Lady, in my opinon, has the best food, service and ambience around.  The restaurant is in a restored Victorian home in downtown Newberg, and upon entering its doors, you are greeted by soft music, the glow of candlelight and a pleasant host.  The meal was unbelievable; you can cut the steak with a fork, and all courses are unique and flavorful.  We have sent many guests over the years here, and probably 99.9% have given The Painted Lady high remarks (check out their online reviews!).  Treat yourself some time; you won't be disappointed.  Kristen

Two Red Chairs

Fall is my favorite time of year with falling leaves and crisp, cold air.  Linda now has a fire going every day for guests, which is so inviting once you walk through the front doors--you just want to curl up with some hot cocoa and sit by the fire.

I purchased a new camera recently, and snapped away again at the Inn and the grounds--everything so beautiful even on an overcast day.  Now if I could just slow down and spend some time on those two red chairs outside, or even by the fire inside, then all would be divine.  Just need to schedule it I guess   :)    Kristen

Sweet Surprises!

Some friends of ours are staying at the Inn tonight that we haven't seen in a while, and I just wanted to give them a small treat upon arrival!  I love surprising people this way.   :)  Kristen

Grapes are Ripe for the Pickin!

We have had a beautiful September in Oregon!  Linda and I strolled our 10 acres this week taking photos of the grounds and McKinlay's vineyards in front of the Inn. Our lawn is a very lush green while the many colorful flowers beautifully complimented it.  We had to stop and capture photos of the grapes weighing heavily on the vines, just so cool to see each year--and they are so very ripe for the picking!  Love this time of year.  Kristen

Happy Knitters!

We had a wonderful group of ladies at the Inn this week who spent the afternoon knitting and talking in our newly remodeled open air meeting space.  They enjoyed sack lunches they brought with them and knitted the afternoon away!  Linda

A Friend's Wedding

Close friends of Dan & Kristen's had their small and intimate wedding at the Inn this weekend. Very warm weather but a perfect day for great photos that captured a fun and memorable day for our good friends.  I have to show off her beautifully decorated table, and her "cool" idea for name holder placements--that's a wine cork under the wine glass with the name perfectly placed on it. I wish I were that creative, but think I will steal some of her ideas for table decorating for any future parties I may have. :)Kristen

Guests Comment on Their First Trip to Oregon & The DreamGiver's Inn

First Trip to Oregon...After signing up for the Oregon Wine Country 1/2 marathon which takes place over Labor Day weekend, my girlfriend and I remembered we had a business card for an Oregon B & B... so I checked it out online to see if it was near the race location. Fortunately, it was only 20 minutes from the start line and it looked beautiful, so we booked their best room (Faith) for a 5 night vacation. We flew up from the Los Angeles area for our first time in Oregon.

Everything exceeded our expectations. Linda the Innkeeper provided incredible hospitality, a delicious breakfast every morning and the most helpful tips about where to go and what to see. She was also extremely accommodating to any special requests that guests had. The location is really central to wherever you want to go and the countryside with it's rolling hills is gorgeous. There are literally a hundred wineries in the heart of Pinot Noir country within 25 minutes. The coast is just over an hour away and Pacific City was the nicest little town. Portland is also less than an hour drive if you want some city life. Mount Hood is definitely farther but a beautiful drive and worth it. And if you are a runner, the race is extremely well organized and a ton of fun!

For a weekend getaway and adventure, or just a place to kick back and relax, you can get it at the DreamGiver's Inn. I certainly hope to get back in the future.   Todd & Eryn, California

Sunflowers in Bloom

Our amazing gardner planted these sunflowers.  The Inn's grounds are just breathtaking right now--lush and green and full of beautiful flowers.  My camera phone just didn't capture the beauty like I wanted, but did catch  a glimpse of the sunflowers in the background.  Happy summer everyone!  We are having another great one with our wonderful guests.   Kristen & Linda

Thank You Cana's Feast Winery!

Wow! Cana's Feast Winery & Cucina once again hosted the local Bed & Breakfasts last Tuesday night to fine wine AND an amazing dinner prepared by Executive Chef Lisa Lanxon.  "WOW" truly is an understatement--the food paired with their wines were "to die for."  We started with amazing appetizers paired with a 2010 Rosato (and for $14 a bottle it is such a great price and guaranteed favorite, and I had a couple of glasses :)  Then, we moved onto bottles of Conoise and a Pinot Noir with dinner--both superb, too.  Amy Cummins, Cana's Feast Events/Tasting Room Manager and Dan Duryee, the Assistant Winemaker, also made the evening special for all of us with good conversation and appreciation to the B&B's, who love to send guests their way all year long. The wines and the food at this winery are well worth the visit, and you won't be disappointed.  Once again, thank you Cana's Feast...we felt appreciated and pampered!  Kristen

76th Annual 4th of July Rodeo

Wrangler Million Dollar TourWhen we moved to Oregon from Texas over 30 years ago, we were thrilled to discover the St. Paul Rodeo with world class cowboys, announcers and western entertainment at its best.  It's an American tradition like no other and a wonderful way to celebrate our independence as a country.  Great fireworks displays light up the sky following the evening performances and patriotic music fills the air.  And there's nothing quite like the food and carnival rides!  Check out the website at http://www.stpaulrodeo.com/ for all the details.  I can't wait to put on my boots and hat and head on over to St. Paul to enjoy the action! --Linda
